"The Natural Born Killer" Kevin Northcutt posing with The NWA Texas Heavyweight
title that he won on June 10, 1999. Go to
Rob's Wrestling World
to find out more about that card. Rob, thanks for the picture.
I went to The Official Website of The New Dr. X (see the link below) and I
tried to send him an e-mail on June 19, 1999 but it bounced. So I was able to get
his new e-mail address on July 3 1999, and I wrote him and asked if Ron Fortune
(The Original Dr. X) was still promoting shows. The New Dr. X wrote me back
and told me no, Ron is not running shows anymore. That explains why they
haven't been back since April.
But The New Dr. X told me of a new promotion that will start running in
Kansas and Arkansas soon, and hopefully they'll come to town and it should
feature some of the same wrestlers. I don't know if Ron will revive The WWA
in the future or not. It was a great promotion. I'll keep you posted when I
find out any details about this new promotion.
Back in March, I went to The Official Website of Super X, he was also trained
by Ron Fortune. I didn't bookmark his page and I never found it again, and
on July 11, 1999 I got an e-mail from him. I've been wanting to add a link to
his site here since April, and finally I can. I also e-mailed Bill at The
DDT Digest and he added a link to Super X's site at his page too. He
already had a link to New Dr. X's site (and some other sites) thanks to me.
The World Wrestling Alliance was based out of Springdale, Arkansas, and ran
by Ron Fortune, AKA The Original Dr. X. The WWA was around for about
a year from what The Reaper told me. Dr. X's Uncle is Dick The Bruiser.
Ron Fortune wrestled as Doctor X for 27 years.
Yes, that's right, The World Wrestling Alliance came here to Pittsburg, Kansas
on March 27, 1999, and again on April 23, 1999. You can read all about it
elsewhere on my site (the links are below).
The WWA Champion is "The Natural Born Killer" Kevin Northcutt. I interviewed
him, The Reaper and Kerry "The Rock" Rockward in March for The Kilt Report, because The Flying
Scotsman is a friend of mine, and as soon as I found out that Wrestling was
coming to town, I immediately thought of Scots and told him I'd send him a
report and try to get interviews for him. Devil Boy is going to send me an
interview as soon as he can. Hopefully he doesn't lose the questions or my
e-mail addresses. Devil Boy wasn't here in April.
Now that The Kilt Report (The Flying Scotsman's Newsletter) is no more, Devil
Boy's interview won't appear there, but it'll be online nonetheless. I'm sure
The Flying Scotsman and I can get it posted somewhere and in a newsletter.
The Flying Scotsman's got connections, baby.
On April 23rd, I interviewed "Wildman" Brad Williams, Yukon Eric, Jr and
Adrian Steel. Adrian Steel and The Reaper won The WWA World Tag Team Titles
in Early April and they are the First WWA World Tag Team Champs. The three
interviews are available on my site. It's too bad that The Kilt Report is no
more, because it was The Best Wrestling Newsletter (grins) there ever was.
The Reaper really impressed me, and he has an AWESOME Powerbomb.
The Reaper didn't wrestle in the Battle Royal because he had his nose
broken in the ring two weeks before they came to town on March 27th. All
the Wrestlers in The WWA put on a good show, The Reaper, The Rock, Doink
The Clown, "Cowboy" Dan Fargo, Jason Windham, and the rest.
Dr. X also said that they'd like to come to town about once a month, and also
that some pretty big names were coming to town in the not-too-distant future,
including Terry "Bamm-Bamm" Gordy, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Tommy Dreamer,
and Greg "The Hammer" Valentine. The Reaper said that Terry Gordy and Jake
Roberts have worked with The WWA in the past, and so it's seems pretty likely
to me that they'll be here in the future. Tommy Rich and The One Man Gang
both came to town in April.
The Main Event on March 27th was supposed to be Kevin Northcutt Vs. The One
Man Gang in a falls-count-anywhere match, but OMG didn't show up. He was in
town on April 23rd though. He wrestled Kevin Northcutt in a Weapons Match.
I brought a Chain for them to use. Before the matches, OMG and "Sweet" Stan
Sweetan did an autograph session at Mazzio's Pizza. A woman came up to OMG
and said that she's been a fan for a long time, and Gang said "Please don't
say you've been a fan since you were a little kid." I said "I remember you
as Crusher Broomfield." I was behind OMG when I said that, and he turned
around and gave me a really strange look and told me I had the wrong guy. I
said "You were managed by Jim Cornette..." and he said "No." Then he said
that I was right. I was worried. I asked him what "Panama Gang" was all
about. Back in 1984, Dusty Rhodes broke OMG's leg, and OMG came back as a
manager, complete with a Panama Hat. OMG has wrestled as One Man Gang, Panama
Gang, Akeem The African Dream, and Crusher Broomfield. I would guess that
most people don't remember his time as Panama Gang or Crusher Broomfield.
I don't think OMG wanted to remember Crusher Broomfield either. I went home
before the show and got a magazine with a picture of him as Crusher
Broomfield with Jim Cornette and he said "That's a Good Picture, huh?" You
think I'm gonna argue with One Man Gang? (-:
One Man Gang and Tommy Rich were on the radio at 4:30 PM Friday (April 23)
to hype the show. I was really surprised that Tommy was coming to town. I
taped the interview and the links to the interviews are below.
The Reaper also told me in March that The Doink The Clown that wrestled here
was the Original Doink. I've lost count as to how many Doinks there are and
who came first, wasn't the first Doink Matt Borne? I'll have to ask Reaper
sometime.
I didn't know that it would cause any confusion, but The Jackal and The Rock
that wrestle in The World Wrestling Alliance are NOT the WWF Superstars of
the same name. Double J the Ring Announcer is NOT "J, E, Double F, J, A,
Double R, E Double T, that's Double J", Jeff Jarrett.
On another note, I looked at The September 1999 issue of Pro Wrestling
Illustrated on June 14, 1999 and looked in the Ratings section on Page 65 and they have
a listing for The WWA. Here is the Top Ten according to PWI. For the period
ending April 28, 1999.

My Pages About The World Wrestling Alliance
The World Wrestling Alliance- March 27, 1999 This is my Report on the WWA. It was SUPPOSED to appear in Issue #200 of The Kilt Report, (along with the three interviews
that I conducted), but The Flying Scotsman forgot to put it in. As big as TKR #200 was, do you really want it to have been 4 more pages?
I didn't think so. Go read this "lost" piece of TKR #200. However, The Flying Scotsman DID use the three Interviews.
