MWF Presents Genesis
Saturday, August 4, 2001
National Guard Armory
Pittsburg, Kansas

They have an MWF skirt around the ring, they're selling MWF t-shirts at the concession stand, and there is already at least 23 people at the show. (I counted 23 people at the CSCW show in March.) I got to the show at about 7 PM and bell time is 8 PM. I’m wearing my black "Official Website of Tony D." t-shirt. What I need is a TRP Press Pass! (I’m thinking of a t-shirt that lists My website, The Ring Post, Kayfabe Memories and Extreme Beauty and the addresses on the front, and "Hey it ain’t bragging if you’re telling the truth!-- Donnie B." on the back.)

I talked to "The Weasel" Romeo Paradise before the show, and he said that the MWF has a website, www.midwestwrestlingfederation.com. I went to the site this morning, and there’s not much there, but they will be adding stuff soon. Romeo was pretty cool.

Before the show, I purchased a MWF t-shirt for $15 and two cans of Pepsi for $1 each. It’s really hot in the National Guard Armory. I took two rolls of film during the show but it’s not developed yet. I also took (okay, stole) the flyer from the convenience store near my house before the show (the clerk said I could take (steal) it). The shirt says "MWF We Deliver" on it, and they do deliver.

Romeo Paradise and Handsome Brandon Tripod hit the ring to start the show. Brandon doesn’t want to wrestle tonight against Sweet Dreams Gary Graham and Gary comes to the ring. They’ve been a team and Brandon wants to stick together. Romeo has the mic and he calls Brandon "the weakest link" and Romeo and Gary double team Brandon Tripod. Brandon Tripod challenges Gary Graham later in the show and the Commissioner makes the match.

The commissioner is in the ring to start the show. The commissioner and the timekeeper do commentary throughout the show, which I thought was pretty cool. I didn’t do a good head count, but I’d say that only about 40 people showed up, which wasn’t as good as I hoped. It was a really good show. I took 7 and a half pages of notes too!

Match #1: Sanlego Dragon vs. "All Star" Mike Solid

"The Japanese Warrior" Sanlego Dragon vs. "All Star" Mike Solid. Half of the crowd had "All Star" t-shirts on (where’s mine?). There were two All Star Mike Solid signs in the crowd as well. He wasn’t listed on the flyer.

Sanlego Dragon is barefoot and wearing a mask and a purple shirt. All Star is wearing an All Star Mike Solid t-shirt like half of the crowd is. They lock up collar and elbow. Dragon with a headlock takeover and All Star escapes with a legscissors. Dragon says that All Star pulled his mask. Romeo Paradise is out ringside and he does a little commentary. All Star got a cradle for a 2 count and The Dragon goes to the floor. The Referee is counting and Romeo yells that The Dragon doesn’t understand English and he doesn’t know about getting counted out. Romeo tries to get the Dragon back in the ring. Mike with a headlock. Dragon gets out of it and gets Mike Solid in a hammerlock. The All Star reverses the hammerlock. Dragon gets out of it and he gets behind All Star and pulls both of Mike’s arms behind his back and The Dragon puts his knee in Mike’s back. The fans start an "All Star" chant and Romeo chants "Sucks." The Dragon goes for a vertical suplex, but All Star reverses it. All Star with a two count. All Star goes to the top rope but The Dragon falls against the ropes causing All Star to lose his balance and fall to the mat. Dragon goes for the pin and he thought he won the match, All Star must have barely kicked out. The Dragon with kicks and chops to The All Star. The Dragon gives All Star an Irish Whip and a spinkick when All Star comes off the ropes. Romeo Paradise goes for one of the All Star signs in the crowd and he wants to rip it up, but he can’t get it. Dragon won the match with a submission move.

Winner: Sanlego Dragon

Romeo Paradise goes to the back only to come right back out to the ring again. He says that we’re all stupid and ignorant (it makes me want to show him my BBA). Romeo wants the sound man to play his theme music, which is a Limp Bizkit song. They won’t play his music. Romeo challenges the Ref to a match.

Match #2: Kong vs. Logan Moore

Sometimes the PA system in an Armory isn’t too good. I didn’t catch the names of either wrestler! (Romeo Paradise and Brandon Tripod visited The Ring Post and helped me out with the names of all of the people that I missed, so I edited the story to get everything right. Thanks a lot Romeo and Brandon!). Logan Moore wore a red and black outfit and I got both of these guys autographs during the show. Kong wore a black singlet and he is bald. (I’ll scan my flyer and put it on my website ASAP as well).

They lock up collar and elbow and Moore knocks Kong in the ropes. They lock up again and Kong throws Moore in the ropes and then Kong does a cartwheel. Kong is a bald dude (and I think that Kong is Smasher from the March CSCW show under a different name, but I could be wrong). Logan Moore with an Irish Whip and Kong comes off the ropes with a shoulderblock. Logan Moore goes for a hiptoss but Kong blocks it and lands a few punches. Romeo Paradise is out again. Romeo and Logan Moore are being chased around the ring by Kong. Logan Moore gets the advantage once Kong gets in the ring. Logan Moore is working on Kong’s leg. Kong with a legscissors for a 2 count. Logan Moore leaves the ring. Fans start a "Homo" chant at Romeo Paradise and Kong goes outside and punches Romeo after he looks at a big dude behind me and Romeo says "I’m not a Homo" *wink wink*. Romeo takes a nasty bump by getting thrown into some chairs near me by Kong. Romeo is a little groggy outside the ring (I don't think it's all acting either!) and Kong and Logan Moore make their way back in the ring. Kong with an Irish Whip and a clothesline for Logan Moore. Romeo reaches in the ring and trips Kong while Logan Moore is talking to the Referee. Logan Moore with a leglock. Kong gets up and gets Logan Moore in the corner and punches him. Kong catches Logan Moore with a vertical suplex. Kong with an off the top rope headbutt (he yelled "Whazzup!" too) and he goes for the pin. Romeo pulls the Referee out of the ring to break the count. Kong put Logan Moore on his back for an Airplane Spin/Samoan Drop combination for the 3 count.

Winner: Kong

Match #3: The Punisher vs. Christopher Martinez

The Punisher is 200 lbs and from Puerto Rico. He wears a mask and a Punisher (the Marvel Comics character) t-shirt. Christopher Martinez is from LA. The commentary during the matches by the Commissioner and the Timekeeper is pretty cool.

Christopher backs The Punisher in the corner and delivers three chops (and I say "Whoo!" after each chop). The Punisher gets Christopher in the corner and The Punisher hits him with three chops of his own (while I "Whoo!"). Punisher with an Irish Whip for Christopher into the other corner. Christopher climbs the turnbuckles and catches the Punisher with a Huracanrana as The Punisher charges in. Christopher with an Irish whip and The Punisher comes off the ropes and catches Christopher with a shoulderblock. Another Irish Whip by Christopher, another shoulderblock by Punisher. Punisher with an Irish Whip and Martinez comes off the ropes with a cross body block for a 2 count. Punisher with a clothesline and a Bodyslam on Christopher. Punisher goes for a vertical suplex but Martinez blocked it and gives The Punisher a vertical suplex and he gets another 2 count. Armbar by Martinez and a hammerlock that The Punisher reverses. Punisher lifts Christopher off of his feet with the hammerlock. Punisher with a swinging neckbreaker and The Punisher climbs to the top rope. Christopher Martinez makes it to his feet and he turns around and The Punisher comes off the ropes with a flying clothesline for the 3 count.

Winner: The Punisher

Scotty C. enters the ring. Her shirt reads "Just be glad I’m not your kid". Scotty is badmouthing Christopher about losing to The Punisher among other things. 2 other wrestlers join her (I later find out they are Alan Romero and Vertigo). Alan catches Christopher in a bearhug as the girl continues on the mic. Kong comes to Christopher’s aid but Alan Romero and Vertigo overpower him. Handsome Brandon Tripod gets in the ring. Alan Romero and Kong are on the floor and Tripod vaults over the top rope to the floor (landing on his feet, that’s gotta hurt) to help Kong. Christopher is helped to the back.

Short Intermission. I got a few autographs for my flyer and I also purchases another can of Pepsi for $1 (that makes 3). I got in the ring and got my picture taken with Handsome Brandon Tripod, All Star Mike Solid and Christopher Martinez. The photographer was very beautiful and I would’ve paid another $5 to get my picture taken with her. (She’s probably the wife of one of the wrestlers and I’m really in trouble now!)

After the Intermission, The commissioner is in the ring and Big Smooth makes his way out. Tonight Big Smooth will take on (my man) "The Real Deal" Adrian Steel in a Heavyweight Title Tournament match. Big Smooth and Adrian are good friends though, and Smooth doesn’t want to fight him. The song "One Step Closer" by Linkin Park (AKA Nova's Ring Entrace Music) starts to play as Adrian Steel makes his way out. Adrian is wearing a Bad Company t-shirt (Adrian and Yukon Eric, Jr. are Bad Company in WCCW in Arkansas). Adrian takes the mic and says they’ll just go grab a beer. Adrian and Big Smooth shake hands. Big Smooth turns around and Adrian attacks him from behind! "The Real Deal" Adrian Steel has turned heel! (I miss CandySeuss!).

Match #4: Jeff Justice vs. The Lunatic

Jeff Justice is 6’ tall and from "Anywhere he damn well pleases." He comes to the ring with a steel chair in his hands and he won’t shake hands with the fans. I like him already! He lays the steel chair against the ring apron. An AC/DC song starts to play and The Lunatic comes out. He is from New York City. The commentators say that The Lunatic spent some time at Shady Acres Asylum. The Lunatic has dyed red hair (a la Mikey Whipwreck) and he frisked the Referee. Lunatic then tells the Ref "You fight him." Lunatic tries to grab Jeff Justice’s, um, butt. They lock up and Jeff Justice takes control with an overhead wristlock. Lunatic turns it into a hammerlock. I joined in clapping for Lunatic and I dropped my notebook. Jeff Justice with a few punches. Lunatic with a vertical suplex. Jeff Justice says that The Lunatic pulled his tights. Lunatic asks the crowd "Did you see me pull his tights?" and a woman behind me says "No, but I saw you grab his ass!" Lunatic gets Jeff Justice in the corner and he punches him until Justice is on his knees and then The Lunatic gives him a stinkyface! Jeff goes outside and brings his chair in the ring. Jeff with a few punches for Looney. Looney starts chanting "Jeff Justice" and we all chant "Sucks!" Jeff Justice tries to use the chair, but the Ref won’t allow it. Looney with an Irish Whip on Jeff Justice and he catches Jeff with a dropkick. He gives Jeff another Irish Whip and he hits a clothesline. Looney with a Powerbomb for the 3 count. Security has to help Jeff Justice to the back.

Winner: The Lunatic

Match #5: Thorn vs. Reckless Ryan Reed

Thorn wears all black and he has brown hair. He is 6’ 2" and (I think) 225. We cheer for Thorn as Reckless Ryan Reed leaves the ring and tells us to shut up. We chant "Chicken". Triple R gets in the ring and Thorn backs him into the corner. Romeo Paradise is back at ringside with a mic. Thorn with two hiptosses and a Bodyslam on Triple R. Romeo calls us idiots and he leaves again. Ryan Reed leaves the ring and Thorn comes outside and chases Triple R around the ring. Triple R gets back in the ring and when Thorn does, Triple R catches him coming in with a few stomps. Irish Whip and a shoulderblock by Reckless Ryan Reed. Thorn with punches and a reverse chinlock, a right hand and back to the chinlock. Thorn with a headlock and Triple R breaks it with punches. Reckless Ryan Reed with a double thrust to the throat. Ryan Reed with a scissorkick (a la Booker T.) for a two count. Thorn with a vertical suplex. Triple R is outside the ring favoring his back. Triple R gets back in the ring and Thorn kicks Ryan Reed behind the knee and knocks him down. Thorn with elbowdrops to the knee and a few punches on the back of the knee. Triple R counters with forearms and punches. Thorn backs Reckless Ryan Reed in the corner and connects with a few punches. Thorn with an Irish Whip on Triple R and Reckless Ryan hits the opposite corner. Thorn catches Triple R with a clothesline in the corner. Thorn hits a legdrop for a two count. He gives Reckless Ryan Reed a Scorpion Deathdrop for a two count. Triple R with a DDT on Thorn for a two count. Triple R goes for the pin again and gets another two count. Reckless Ryan Reed is in the corner begging for mercy. Thorn gets Triple R out of the corner with a hiptoss. Thorn comes off the ropes for momentum and he catches Triple R with a flying knee drop. Thorn’s working on the knee. Thorn goes for a spinning toe hold for a two count. Triple R went for a vertical suplex, Thorn tried to block it, but Reckless Ryan Reed got the suplex anyway. Thorn with an Irish whip on Triple R and he kicked Triple R as he comes off the ropes. Thorn with a stunner for the three count.

Winner: Thorn

Match #6: Sweet Dreams Gary Graham (with Romeo Paradise) vs. Handsome Brandon Tripod.

From Corpus Christi, Sweet Dreams Gary Graham, accompanied by Romeo Paradise. Romeo is sick of us. Is this the third shirt that Romeo has worn today? (I’ll have to develop my film and check). Handsome Brandon Tripod makes his way out. Irish Whip and Brandon Tripod comes off the ropes with a clothesline. Gary backs Brandon into the ropes and Romeo with a cheap shot on Brandon. Kong comes out to help Brandon. Graham with an Irish Whip that sends Brandon into the turnbuckles. Gary Graham with a Stinger Splash on Brandon. Romeo comes up to me and says "What are you writing about? Quit it!" (I’m just trying to put him over!). Some fans with water bottles are splashing Romeo with water. (I hope they don’t get me or my notepad). Graham goes outside and shoves Kong. Graham is back in the ring and choking Brandon on the ropes. Brandon is lying against the ropes throat first and Graham goes for a Bronco Buster but Brandon gets out of the way. Brandon Tripod with a vertical suplex on Gary Graham for a two count. Logan Moore comes out and he hits Kong with a steel chair! Romeo and Logan Moore sit in their chairs in front of the fans with the water bottles. Romeo and Logan both get wet! Graham has Tripod on the mat with a chinlock (or is it a choke?). Brandon Tripod with an elbowsmash, a hiptoss and an armdrag takeover. Gary Graham goes outside and he and Logan Moore are standing together. Brandon Tripod with a plancha over the top rope that takes them both down. Back in the ring, Graham gets the advantage on Tripod in the corner with a few shoulderblocks and a snap mare gets Brandon out of the corner. Graham with a kneedrop and a chinlock for Brandon Tripod. Tripod fires back with punches and a vertical suplex. Tripod goes for the pin but before the Referee can make the three count, the time limit expires.

Winner: Time Limit Draw

I don’t know if that match was part of the tournament or not. If it was then I guess they’re both out. Romeo Paradise took a nasty spill in the water during the match and I don't know if he meant to or not!

Several wrestlers have made their way out and they are brawling all over the building. A garage-type door leading to the outside is open and two wrestlers are brawling outside near the building. Romeo Paradise gets in the ring to be safe, but Brandon Tripod is in the ring behind him. Paybacks are hell, Romeo!

Match #7: "The Real Deal" Adrian Steel vs. Big Smooth: No DQ Falls Count Anywhere match.

"One Step Closer" starts to play as Adrian makes his way out. Adrian is 265 and from Pittsburgh, PA. Big Smooth is 6’4" and 350. Adrian Steel offers to shake hands. Big Smooth asks the crowd if he should. He asks me specifically and I shake my head no. Big Smooth decides not to shake, and now Adrian wants a test of strength. Big Smooth is going to lock up but Adrian with an eye gouge and punches for Big Smooth. Big Smooth is in the corner of the ring being worked over by Adrian, but Big Smooth fires back with punches of his own. Adrian comes off the ropes with a clothesline on Big Smooth that had little affect. Another clothesline knocks Big Smooth down. Adrian with punches, an eye rake, and a choke in the corner. Adrian knocks Big Smooth out of the ring. Adrian rams Big Smooth’s head into a pop machine. The sign on the pop machine said "Out of Order." Adrian throws Big Smooth into several steel chairs. Adrian goes for the pin on the floor and gets a two count. Smooth with forearms and he rams Adrian head first into The Ring Post (.com!). Smooth takes Adrian in the ring and gets a two count. Smooth with a Bodyslam, but Smooth can’t follow up. Adrian took a lot out of Smooth earlier in the match. Big Smooth is going for a Powerbomb but he can’t get Adrian up. Adrian comes off of the ropes with a Flying Burrito Forearm (a la Manny Fernandez) and then Adrian grabs Big Smooth by the head and rams him down to the mat. Adrian goes for the pin and gets the three count.

Winner: "The Real Deal" Adrian Steel

This was a really good show, and they advertised more than Central State Championship Wrestling did in March, but I met three people today who would’ve went to the show had they known about it. I hope to see a much bigger turnout at the next show. It was a really good show, and I hope we get some more of the tournament here in Pittsburg. I figure they will have some of the tournament in other cities though. Adrian advances in the Heavyweight tournament for sure. (A few people where I work figured the Armory would be too hot, so they didn't go, pansies).

Sanlego Dragon, Kong, The Punisher and Thorn advance in the Cruiserweight tournament. Brandon Tripod and Gary Graham may both be out of the tournament (or that might not have been a tournament match). Adrian Steel advances in the Heavyweight tournament, and I’m pretty sure that The Lunatic does too. I got 9 more autographs for my collection and I have two rolls of film that need developed. I’ll add photos from the show to my website soon.
