Q U E S T I O N S F O R T H E P R O S:
With MoonDog Bones

[Interview conducted by Tony D. on March 26, 2000]
TD: What's your real name, and what gimmicks have/do you use?
MoonDog Bones: What`s my real name? I can see this is going to be a real
fun interview brother. I never go to the ring without my 4' chain but we
won`t discuss what that is used for now will we.
TD: What height/weight are you?
MoonDog Bones: I`m 5` 9" and 280lbs
TD: What circuits do you currently wrestle in?
MoonDog Bones: I wrestle for the #1 independent promotion in Canada today
baby ECCW/NWA.
TD: What circuits have you wrestled in?
MoonDog Bones: I`ve wrestled on cards for Ringside Pro Wrestling, WCCW,
Championship Wrestling USA, and ECCW/NWA
TD: What titles have you held?
MoonDog Bones: What titles have I held? I ain't interested in titles. I`m
only interested in one thing when I step into the ring and that is kicking
someone's ass baby.
TD: When did you decide to become a wrestler?
MoonDog Bones: I decided I wanted to be a wrestler when I was 6 years old
and was watching guys like Ray the Crippler Stevens, Jimmy the Superfly
Snuka, Bob Backlund just to name a few and as I watched them and the things
they did in the ring I just kept telling myself, I`m going to become a
wrestler someday.
TD: And how did you get started?
MoonDog Bones: I knew a promoter in Vermont that was running shows and he
was booking guys Killer Kowalski was training in Reading Mass. He hooked me
up with Killer but things didn`t go as planned and I ended up moving to the
West Coast. I just happen to be flipping through the TV channels one night
and caught the end of Championship Wrestling USA and Sandy Barr was talking
about his wrestling school. I wrote down the number and called the next day,
3 days later I drove down to Portland and checked it out and started
training. About the 6th week into the training I got my shoulder separated
and had to drop out of the training. My shoulder was messed up pretty bad
and I had to have physical therapy. By the time I was ready to get back
into training Sandy Barrs school was on hold. I was a little disapointed
but again I was just flipping through the channels and caught a wrestling
show on a public access channel called RingSide Pro Wrestling. I called
that phone number that night and Talked to Oly Olsen I met with him a few
weeks later and he trained me.
TD: Who has been the biggest influence on your career?
MoonDog Bones: That is a tough question. There are many but I`d have to say
Michelle Starr Why? Because he knows his way around the ring and he knows
what the fans want and he never disappoints them any time he steps into that
ring and you never know what to expect from him when your on the other side
of that ring and I know that first hand.
TD: What has been the greatest moment of your career?
MoonDog Bones: The greatest moment for me was 6 years ago when I was just a
rookie and climbed into a steel cage with Michelle Starr and Johnny Canuck
and got my ass kicked for 20 minutes at a show on Vancouver Island. Starr
and Canuck kept me in the corner and beat me with a kendo stick and I
survived to tell about it.
TD: Who are/were you trained by? What kind of athletic background do you
have before you became a wrestler?
MoonDog Bones: Oly the body Olsen was the guy that trained me. He was very
strict in the training, because if you were not serious about becoming a
wrestler and just there to goof off he wouldn`t even waste his time training
you.
TD: Who is your favorite wrestler to work with in the ring?
MoonDog Bones: I`d have to say Oly Olsen because I`ve had some of my best
matches facing him in the ring. He is one of the nicest guys out side that
ring, but in that squared circle he is all business.
TD: Any major enemies? If so, who, and why?
MoonDog Bones: Anyone I step into the ring with is an enemy
TD: In Which promotion are you the most over?
MoonDog Bones: ECCW/NWA
TD: Do you ever consider working in the WWF, WCW or ECW if they are
interested in your talent?
MoonDog Bones: I would work for the WWF if they were interested in my
talents because they seem to be more together with the way they run their
shows.
TD: If you had to pick WWF, WCW or ECW, where would you go and why?
MoonDog Bones: I would have to say the WWF. Vince runs a tight ship and he
knows what the fans want to see and he gives them their moneys worth.
TD: Do you have a computer? If so, what do you think of the reporters and
sheet writers on the internet?
MoonDog Bones: Yes I own a computer Tony. Most of the reporters and
sheetwriters are real good at keeping the online fans updated on what`s
happening in the wrestling world either be it the WWF, WCW, ECW or all the
indy promotions around the world. But there are the few that write about
rumors that just aren`t true and those few give every one a bad name.
TD: Do you have a college degree or any other higher education?
MoonDog Bones: Yes I do Tony. I spent 2 years in a Diesel mechanics school
in Vermont and did graduate as a Diesel Tech
TD: Any advice you'd give a wannabe wrestler?
MoonDog Bones: Wrestling is a serious business and takes alot of training
and discipline. So if you don`t take the business and the training serious,
stay home because you will get hurt. For all the future wrestlers out there
that are taking their share of lumps and bumps in the wrestling schools,
Stick with it boys it will pay off in the end.
TD: Any final comments for the readers?
MoonDogs Bones: If you are ever in BC Canada check out a ECCW/NWA wrestling
show you won`t be disappointed. Kids don`t try any of the moves you see on
tv or at live events on anyone it could cause fatal injury so leave the
rough stuff to the Pros.
